Chief Fabrication opens powder coating facility

Grand Island, NE – Chief Fabrication, a division of Chief Industries, Inc., opened its newly built powder coat facility in August 2014, representing one of the largest powder coat operations in the country.

Powder coating uses a dry powder that is applied and heat cured to provide a durable protective finish on metal surfaces. Chief’s new powder coating facility will enable the primer and topcoat to be applied in one pass, and can accommodate parts up to 17’ long.

The new powder coat facility offers these capabilities:

  • Therma-Tron-X, Inc. 7-stage all stainless steel 170-foot cleaning system with acid pickle laser scale removal
  • 800-pound per hook with 1300-pound per part capability
  • Part Package size of 10’ L x 4’ W x 6’ H and 17’ L x 18” W x 6’ H
  • Window size of 5’ x 7’ and line speeds up to 12’ per minute
  • Powder prime and powder topcoat in one pass utilizing IR gel oven for primer application
